Aloo Matar Curry Recipe (Potato peas curry)

Ingredients for Aloo Matar Curry Recipe
Fresh or frozen green peas about 150 grams
Potatoes (2 medium-sized) about 250 grams (peeled and cut cubed )
Onion 01 small (finely chopped)
Tomato finely 01 large (chopped)
Carrot 01 Big sizes (chopped)
Green chili 4-5
Garlic 5-6 nos
Ginger 01 inch piece
Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
Red chili powder 01 tsp
Turmeric Powder 01 tsp
Cumin seeds 3/4 tsp
Cinnamon powder 1/2 tsp
cloves 4-5
Coriander Powder 02 tsp
Olive oil 02 tbsp
Garam Masala 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves 6-7
Green coriander leaves 02 tbsp (finely chopped)
salt to taste
How to make Aloo Matar Curry Recipe
Step-01
- First, wash and peel the potatoes thoroughly. Cut potatoes into large pieces (about 1/2-inch),
and put it in water before use. - Peel and wash the green peas. We have used fresh green peas in our recipe, you can use frozen or fresh green peas as per your availability.
- In a mixer grinder/blender, add ginger, garlic, chopped onion, and green chili, add some water to it and make a fine paste.
Step-02
Now put the pressure cooker on the gas flame, when it becomes hot, add 2 tablespoons of oil to it. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves, and curry leaves and fry for some time in hot oil.
Step-03
- Now add chopped onion to it, and fry till it becomes transparent brown.
- Now add turmeric, coriander, and red chili powder and fry, after frying a little, add chopped tomatoes and fry till it becomes soft.
- Add the masala paste to this mixture and cook, when the spices oil starts separating then stop frying.
- Add peas chopped potatoes, Carrot, and salt to it and fry for 3-4 minutes, when it is well mixed with spices, then add 1/2 glass of water or add enough water.
Step-04
- Close the lid of the pressure cooker and let it cook.
- Cook it for 2 whistles, keep the flame medium. Open the lid of the pressure cooker when steam escapes. Add chopped coriander to it and mix well.
- Serve aloo Matar sabzi hot with jeera rice, plain rice, roti, puri, or paratha.
Suggestions
- We have used a pressure cooker in this recipe, you can also make it in a deep pan.
- Add garam masala at the end to enhance the taste.
- If fresh peas are not available, you can use frozen peas.
