Avocado: ripe, sliced, or chopped.

Lettuce: shredded very thinly.

Cheese: cotija Mexican cheese traditionally used, but any sort of finely shredded cheese is ok.

Sour cream or Mexican cream.

Hot sauce: Valentina or Cholula, if desired.

Tostada Shells ( Bake or fry)

Shells are easily available on the store, or you can make from below given steps.

Fried shells

  • Heat about 1/4 inch of oil during a medium, deep skillet.
  • Once the oil is hot, place one corn tortilla at a time within the oil and cook, flipping halfway once it’s lightly golden brown.
  • Place the fried shells on paper towels to take out the excessive oil.
  • Lightly sprinkle with salt and permit to chili before serving.

Baked shells

  • Pour the oil for frying into a pan to a depth of about 2 inches.
  • Place over medium heat or heat to 375 degrees F.
  • Add tortillas one at a time and fry till it becomes crispy and golden brown. (It takes 1 or 1/2 min).
  • Using tongs, transfer to a paper towel-lined pan and sprinkle with salt. Set aside.
