How to make Paneer Mirch Masala (Paneer gravy)
Marinate paneer
- Firstly cut the paneer into about 1 inch pieces or into big cubes.
- Now add a little oil, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, a little salt and a little water to it.
- Mix the mixture well and coat the cubes on the paneer side.
- After coating it well, marinate it for about half an hour and keep it in the fridge.
How to make gravy
- Now put some butter in a deep fry pan and heat it.
- When the butter melts, add bay leaves, cumin seeds, dry red chilies and green chilies and temper it. Leave it to cook for a while.
- Add finely chopped onion and little salt to it and fry till it becomes light golden.
- Fry it on medium flame till it turns brown evenly. It will take about 5 minutes.
- After it turns light golden, add ginger garlic paste and fry it a little, it removes its rawness.
- Add coriander powder, Kashmir red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, black pepper powder, gram flour, and a little salt to it.
- After adding all the spices fry till it turns brown, now let it make a dry thick masala.
- Add tomato puree, garam masala powder, salt and some sugar to this mixture and cover and cook on low flame for about 10 minutes.
- Let the gravy thicken so that the consistency of the gravy comes, add some water if it becomes too thick, and cook.
- Now add paneer cubes to the gravy but do not over fry the paneer.
To make it rich, add some fresh cream or curd over it. Let it boil for few minutes and switch off the gas! - your Paneer Masala is ready.
Serving idea
Garnish paneer chilli masala with coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or naan.
Suggestion
- To make the gravy rich, add some fresh cream or curd over it.
- After adding ginger garlic paste, fry it well otherwise raw smell will remain in it.
- We have used salt in many places in our recipe, keep in mind the quantity otherwise it will be tasteless.
