Ingredients for Matar chaat Recipe
Dry peas 01 cup (about 200 grams)
Potato 02 (boil)
Onion 01 (chop finely)
Tomato 01 (chop finely)
Green chilies 2,3 (finely chopped)
Baking soda 02 pinches
Green Coriander 02 tbsp (chopped finely)
Tamarind Chutney 02 tbsp
Green coriander chutney 01 tablespoon
Peanuts 2 tbsp (fry)
Lemon juice 0 1 tablespoon
Coriander powder 01 tsp
Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
Ginger 0 2 inch piece (grated)
Chaat masala 0 1 tsp
Papdi 1/2 cup
Garam masala 01 tsp
Salt as per taste
Matar chaat Recipe
Preparation
- Take dry white peas according to the quantity written above and wash them with water, now soak them in water for 7-8 hours. If there is time, soak the peas for the whole night, the peas will melt well and become tasty.
- Boil the potatoes and cut them into pieces and keep them aside.
- Cut onions, tomatoes, green chillies and coriander leaves and keep them aside.
How to make Matar chaat Recipe
- Now drain the extra water of peas, put it in a pressure cooker with about 2 cups of water and keep it on high flame.
- Add some salt and 1/4 teaspoon turmeric to it and mix well.
- Now close the lid and let it cook till 1 whistle.
- When the whistle comes, reduce the flame to demi and cook for about 5-6 minutes more. Now turn off the gas and let the cooker cool down.
- Remove the lid after the pressure is released and check whether the peas are cooked well or not.
- Take out the cooked peas in a large bowl.
- Now take out some cooked peas in a bowl, add chopped potatoes to it. Add black salt, red chili powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, and chaat masala to this mixture and mix well.
- Add finely chopped green chilies, finely chopped tomatoes, finely chopped onions, grated ginger, and lemon juice to it and mix well.
- Now your matar chaat is ready, add tamarind and green chutney and papdi, add some finely chopped coriander and serve spicy matar chaat.
- If you like more spicy, then add some more green chilies, red chili powder and chaat masala.
Suggestion
- Sometimes the quality of the peas is not good, in this case, do check whether the peas are cooked well or not.
- You can also fry cooked peas by adding cumin seeds.
- Serve the chaat immediately after making it, the chaat kept for a long time will not taste good.
